About the Artist

As a lifelong artist, Sarah uses natural inspiration.

“I’ve always loved drawing and painting, even from a very young age. One of my earliest classes was an after-school art class painting animals in watercolor.”

In between artistic sessions, encouraging fruits and vegetables to grow, tending to horses, cattle, goats, chickens and roosters; I enjoy taking sunset walks on our land in Central Texas – often joined by my family, German Shepherd, Shylo and barn cat, Binx.

My professional life is also rooted in agriculture and wildlife. The beauty and peace of these everyday practices, with their nuance and detail are a passion in my life and I truly enjoy trying to capture that in my art… I feel more accomplished working with subjects I know and love.

Deep Roots

My family has always influenced, inspired, and encouraged me, especially since there are many other creative and talented artists on both sides of my family.

The two mothers in my life (my mother, and my mother-in-law), have been my most ardent supporters. One introduced me to various forms of art, sculpting, stained glass, artistic jewelry making and more, and the other pushed me into expanding my talents at a greater extent in college – pursing art, photography, and art metals.

In our busy, digital world with packed schedules and rushed talks – art remains one of the last forms of true self expression, and a beneficial way to release stress. A wonderful and creative outlet for anyone. A respite in the storm of posts and texts and constant messaging.

I enjoy helping others discover art and find that anyone can create something when they are inspired. I also teach courses and private group lessons.

To Aspiring Artists

The saying practice makes perfect is true. What I felt was some of my better work years ago, is not the same quality as the recent work. The more you learn and work on techniques, the more you will develop your own style and improve. Don’t be afraid to learn how other artist’s do something. If it works for you, great! And if it doesn’t, you can always adapt it to your own style.

Look for inspiration in everyday things and moments.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and try things. If it makes you feel happy, it will likely make others feel the same way. If you’re feeling an emotion when creating, it will likely help others feel the same, and the more that other’s appreciate and enjoy your art, the more inspired you become.

Never rely on the approval of other people to make you motivated.
